Individuals who are committed to serving others can earn a bachelor's degree in our Human Services program. Courses will examine the legal, social, governmental, and political factors that influence the delivery of human services to the public. Students will also learn how to help people cope with personal challenges as they direct them to programs to meet their needs. Students may choose to specialize in advocacy, child and family services, corrections, gerontology, or mental health programs.

This major follows guidelines of the National Organization for Human Service Education which promotes the knowledge and skills needed by professionals who plan to commit their lives to serving others.

Our bachelor's degree in Psychology program provides learners with a solid foundation in the study of human behavior. Students will gain a better understanding of themselves as individuals and of other members of cultures and societies through coursework that focuses on research, theories, and processes of psychology. Psychology students are encouraged to think critically, to analyze and integrate information from other disciplines and sources, and to draw conclusions which can lead to the application of psychology to the identification and realization of individual and group goals.

The curriculum offers an in-depth examination of counseling theories, chemical dependency, marriage and family, social and cultural issues, psychopharmacology, diagnostics, assessment and treatment, psychopathology, research methods, and more. In addition, four practicum-internships provide a total of 600 contact hours of opportunity for students to develop counseling skills. Courses in this rigorous program were chosen to meet the academic requirements established by the National Board for Certified Counselors for the National Certified Counselor credential.
