Earning a diploma in Veterinary Assisting can prepare individuals to become vital members of a veterinary health care team. Courses include training in preparing animals for surgery, feeding and caring of inpatients, processing x-rays, and assisting the veterinarian and others in maintaining a safe environment for animals and humans. The program also includes training in administering injections, performing laboratory and bloodwork tests, assisting in surgical procedures, and administering and monitoring patients under anesthesia.
