Students will also learn how to properly document and code medical procedures, process data for clinical quality management, fill requests for the release of personal health information, and comply with the regulations to protect patients' privacy.

Associate of Occupational Studies - Medical Billing and Coding
The Medical Billing and Coding associate degree program provides students with a solid foundation in the critical skills needed in healthcare billing and coding practices. Graduates of the program will be provided with technological competencies, interpersonal strategies, and understanding of the value and importance of correct billing and coding to be a successful professional in the field. They will be prepared to take the AAPC for Apprentice-level certification (CPC-A). Graduates from this program may apply for employment opportunities in medical facilities. These types of facilities include hospitals, clinics, medical offices and health departments. This program takes 16 months to complete.
