B.A. in Christian Studies
This relevant and important degree program is for students who seek a college-level introduction to the Bible, basic Christian doctrines and theology, personal spiritual development, a brief overview of other world religions, and principles of leadership in churches and other Christian ministries. As such, the program is good preparation for someone planning to attend graduate school or seminary and becoming a church pastor or a lay leader in a local church. The curriculum utilizes biblical studies as the foundation, and an understanding of theology, philosophy, and Christian history as the framework, for communicating Christ to various audiences.
In addition to spiritual formation and exegetical skills essential to Christian studies, graduates will be able to employ communication, leadership, and organizational skills necessary for effective ministry. -
B.A. in English Literature
Grand Canyon University's Bachelor of Arts in English Literature program is designed to provide its majors with a general knowledge of the history of English and American literature and specific knowledge of selected authors, periods, and genres. Students will acquire skills and practice in written and oral communication, critical thinking about literary and other texts, and grammar and linguistics relevant to primary and secondary teaching. Students will gain a critical appreciation for literature and recognize the broad value of literature and its potential to expand students' perspectives and transform their visions of the world.

B.A. in History
The Bachelor of Arts in History program entails the study of diverse world cultures by using the records of the past. This degree allows students to develop the skills and knowledge associated with a liberal arts degree, while giving graduates the analytical skills necessary to compete in a global economy. Since history is universally taught in the primary and secondary education systems, graduates can combine the study of history with preparation for teaching and find a rewarding career in teaching history. The degree also prepares students for graduate studies in history, law and related fields.
Prospective students should currently have some college credits prior to enrollment. -
B.S. in Elementary Education: English (With IR and Cert.)
The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English is a program for students who are preparing for a teaching career in grades K-8, inclusive of elementary and middle school, and who are seeking initial teacher certification or licensure. This program is offered both online and on the main campus and requires a minimum of 24 credits in the content area. In the English emphasis, the program covers the comprehensive English education for elementary students, including analysis of world and American literature, grammar, linguistics, as well as literary criticism and analysis.
Prospective students should have some previous college experience.

B.S. in Secondary Education: English
The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English is a degree program for students who are preparing for a teaching career in grades 7-12, inclusive of middle and high school, and who are seeking initial teacher certification or licensure. This program is offered both online and on the main campus and requires a minimum of 24 credits in the content area. In the English emphasis, the program examines methods of teaching English in secondary schools, and surveys a comprehensive range of English subject matter, including English literature from the Old English Period through Enlightenment, including Shakespeare; American literature from Colonial Age to Romanticism; 19th and 20th century British and American novels; and English language, grammar and linguistics.
