If you closely follow what is going on in the news and the government, then individuals will be interested in a political science degree. Political science is the study of political systems and political behavior and how that affects society. Political scientists study the past and try to understand political events and conditions so they must have a broad knowledge of not only politics but also international relations, law, economics, history, sociology, psychology, statistics, and even anthropology.
Political science graduates typically work for government agencies or representatives as staffers and analysts, or even become elected officials themselves, or go onto pursue a law degree. Many students even go onto become lobbyists trying to get elected officials on their side. Political scientists are smart and they have spent a significant amount of time researching and studying laws but they must also be creative in order to come up with new ideas for bills that could become law. Many political scientists work side by side with representatives trying to better the lives of their constituents.
