Radiology is where health professionals utilize imaging technologies like x-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds and MRIs to diagnose and treat diseases. So with a diploma in radiology, graduates should have the knowledge and skills in order to work as a radiographer or radiologic technologist. Students in the program will learn basic theories as well as the uses for radiology and even how to operate the equipment during procedures.
And students with a certificate in diagnostic radiology will have specialized skills in working with CTs or MRIs. Their program focuses on the skills needed to operate the specialized equipment but these programs are usually designed for practicing radiologic technologists that have previously completed a diagnostic radiology program or are currently enrolled in one. Programs are usually 25-30 credits of coursework and students will gain clinical experience which means they will be observing but also getting hands on experience from operating imaging equipment.
