The Bachelor of Science in Business degree program with a concentration in Accounting promotes identification with and orientation to the accounting profession. Core competencies in technology, critical thinking and communication are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Students also have broad exposure to varied business disciplines, including management, organizational behavior, economics and finance.

Walden's B.S. in Accounting program takes a unique approach that provides you with an introduction to how accounting tools are used in the context of the larger business environment. Gain the knowledge and skills to design, manipulate, and implement accounting products. The curriculum is aligned with the national standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Most states require individuals to complete 150 semester hours in certain subject areas in order to be eligible to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and/or obtain a CPA license. Walden's B.S. in Accounting can help graduates progress toward meeting those requirements. It offers 120 credit hours that include upper-level courses in topics such as financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and management accounting.

In each state, there are specific policies that must be followed when an individual is seeking to become a licensed accountant. Some states will not allow individuals who complete the Walden accounting programs to sit for the CPA licensing exams due to state-specific issues such as professional accreditation or face-to-face instruction. For information on the educational requirements for your state, refer to the state's Board of Accountancy or related agency.

Management accountants (also called cost, managerial, industrial, corporate, or private accountants) record and analyze financial information‡. This process includes strategic planning and budgeting, performance evaluation, and both cost and asset management. Management accountants are also responsible for financial report preparation, financial analyses, cost accounting, and more.

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting program teaches both the fundamentals of accounting as well as more advanced business and accounting concepts. Courses cover tax accounting, auditing, cost accounting, federal taxation and more.
