Officials said that the adult degree completion program will be delivered in a cohort format. Students may pursue the traditional classroom setting, which meets one night per week, or the hybrid, which blends online learning with face-to-face interaction.

The school will offer management and organizational leadership programs as well as degree completion curricula in social and behavioral sciences, technology management, project management, health administration and elementary education.

These programs are designed for adult students who wish to finish their bachelors degree in an accelerated format. Most enrollees can complete the curricula in 16 months. Courses are delivered in a seminar style and are writing-intensive. Learners will participate in activities such as simulations and discussions that can draw from their personal and professionals experiences.

According to U.S. News and World Report, enrollment in online programs has increased by 832 percent over the past the past nine years.

Currently, the Arizona higher education system has 1,162 bachelors degree pathway programs between the universities and community college. Furthermore, students in select majors can pay up to 50 percent less in tuition than what they would if they completed their four-year program on one of the main campuses of the universities.

Universities are beginning to offer lower tuition options at extended campus sites and through accelerated and online degree program. As a result, approximately 11,000 Arizona students currently take advantage of these options.

"The universities have made tremendous progress on developing new academic delivery models to educate more students at a lower price point in a short period of time," Anne Mariucci, ABOR chairwoman, told the news site.

According to the 2010 Sloan Survey of Online Learning, enrollment in web-based courses has increased by nearly 1 million students since 2009.
