Some of the ugliest people in the world are Britons according to the new dating Website that only allows "beautiful people" to join. Statistics from the site are quite astonishing. They show only one in eight British men make it onto the site and only three in 20 women. The site BeautifulPeople.com is an elite dating site that rates how attractive potential members are over a 48 hour period.
Once your application and photo are submitted existing members of the opposite sex vote on whether or not to admit you to the site. Members rank your looks by choosing one of the following options: "Yes definitely," Hmm yes, O.K." Hmm no, not really" and "No definitely not."
Applicants after uploading their recent photo and personal profile, are voted on by users and emailed back if they met the criteria within two days. By looking at the users on the site you can see that Swedish men and Norwegian women are the most attractive and have a better chance of getting on the site. About 65 percent of Swedish men and 76 percent of Norwegian females make it onto the site.
This site is very critical of looks and not ashamed to admit it. The site began in Denmark in 2002 but went global last month. Since then there have been over 1.8 million rejected applicants from 190 countries and only 360,000 new members. So basically you have a 20 percent chance of getting on the site.
As for people that are rejected, many are Brits. The managing director believes that the British are having a particularly difficult time getting onto the site because they "don't spend as much time polishing up their appearance and they are letting themselves down on physical fitness." He also states "Next to Brazilian and Scandinavian beauties, British people just aren't as toned or glamorous."
Brits aren't the only ones struggling to make the cut. The only men that did worse on the site than the British were Russian and Polish. However, Russian women had a 44 percent acceptance rate. Polish women didn't even appear on the list. Germans have also faced a difficult time because "they provide unflattering photos that hurt their acceptance rate."
If you aren't laughing yet about how shallow this site is; something is wrong! The homepage of the site is also quite hilarious. Supposedly CNN has rated it the "the sexiest website in the world today." Now that is some consolation! It also lists five bullet points one of which asks "do you want to guarantee your dates will always be beautiful?" Then it also says "No more filtering through unattractive people on mainstream sites." And at the bottom of the homepage it reads "Too ugly to sign up? Click here to browse BeautifulPeople as a guest." Give me a freaking break!!!
The only thing this site does is help shallow people find one another. There's nothing better than starting a relationship between two egotistical individuals. And of course a strong foundation for a relationship is looks. I can just picture their fights now. "I'm better looking than you" vs. "No, I'm better looking than you. I got checked out and picked up on more times last night than you did by three times…" This sounds like the beginning of a beautiful and longlasting relationship.
I don't think there is a worse idea than putting two vain and self-centered people together. This is bad for these special people because they will both want the attention of everyone and there will be a power struggle. "Beautiful People" need to be with ugly people that show them what life is really about and have the patience to serve as a buffer between vanity and the general population. These people need to get over themselves and find something else to worry about besides dating ugly people.
