De-stress with Antioxidants

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

When I start to feel sick, one of my most favorite ways to feel better is to drink all natural herb teas. Specifically, I love chamomile and mint teas and they do wonders for my health. I feel the benefits from drinking these teas immediately and after I am finished. The warm, soothing drink helps me to relax and de-stress while giving me necessary antioxidants to help me stay healthy.

Antioxidants help to protect your body to resist the effects of germs making you sick. Having a diet made of antioxidant rich foods helps a person to build up a strong immune system. Antioxidants are found in lots of vegetables, nuts and fruits and some commonly known ones are vitamins A, C and E and Selenium.

Physical Therapy Profession

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Years ago I tore my ACL in a skiing accident. After undergoing surgery to repair the problem, I had to start physical therapy. I have never experienced a more excrutiating ordeal than having to regain the strength in my knee. Session after session ended with high doses of anti-inflammatories and bags of ice. I have to give all the credit to my physical therapists; they were always very positive and understanding.

It must be a trying profession to help a person recover from an injury because, at least in my case, we complain a lot. I even starting moaning about other parts of my body not related to my injury. They took the time to help me with all of my problems. I tip my hat to all those who work in this demanding profession. Not only are they taking care of cry babies like me but they also have to stay up to date on current techniques and technologies.

Weight Loss Competition

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Recently some co-workers and I were complaining about the lazy, slovenly people we’ve become. Stories from the glory days filled the air. “When I was a defensive end in college,” boasts one, “I used to be able to run a 5-minute mile.” As the stories began to get grander, so did our competitive spirits. So it was settled; the following day after work we would all have our body compositions tested and a wager would ensue.

After getting tested, we knew we had to lose weight. The way we’ve worked this out is whoever loses the highest percentage of overall body fat wins. For example if I had 30% body fat when we started and at the end had 20%, that would be a loss of 10% body fat. It’s a great way to motivated weight loss, especially when you’ve got highly competitive people in your office.
