Diabetes is a frustrating illnesses and it can set in at anytime in your life you do not maintain your health. Once you think you may have diabetes, or are wondering why you are feeling so weird lately it would be smart to get it checked on. It is very easy to screen for, in fact the basic test can be done in a matter of minutes. It is a matter of testing your blood glucose level. If it is too high or too low, you may want to have further tests done. Recently I volunteered at a health fair and a woman came in because her whole body was going numb, and it was because she had recently become diabetic.
People are trying to do more to raise awareness about diabetes though. One of my favorite events that is held every year is a diabetes diagnosis dodgeball tournament. I cannot think of a better event: it is a fun sport, a good cause, and the name sets up a nice alliteration. The largest is usually held in Iowa, but there are tournaments held all over the country.
