The industries employing the largest number of fashion designers were the company management industry paying designers about $72,000 annually, the cut and sewing apparel manufacturing industry paying designers about $66,000 annually, and the apparel merchant wholesalers industry paying about $61,000 annually. It's important to note that designers had varying salaries depending on their employer and years of experience. Entry level wages for designers are very low and generally stay that way until the designer has gained some experience and gotten established in the occupation.
