As a pharmacy technician, graduates will be able to prepare and process medical insurance claims and forms as well as prepare medications alongside a licensed pharmacist. They will also work closely with customers and answer any questions they might have.
The need for pharmacy technicians has and is expected to increase in coming years. Typically, a technician will earn an annual salary between $19,000 and $32,000. Pharmacy technician programs vary in length but for those that don't want to spend four years in the classroom have the option of doing a shorter program that can last anywhere from six months to two years. Students in either program will learn about pharmaceutical technology and techniques as well as pharmacy law and ethics, and recordkeeping.
