Why we love Soccer Girls

November 6th, 2009 by admin

Every once and a while, something awesome happens in the otherwise uninteresting world of Womens Collegiate Soccer. All I have to say is that this semifinals game between Brigham Young University and New Mexico might actually have been worth watching, Elizabeth Lambert pulled out all the stops and played some ol' fashioned prison soccer.

Despite the fact that she was unsportsmanlike, petty and a little sadistic (ok, a lot), this video makes the heathen in me smile. There's something so beautiful about this level of vicious insanity being unleashed on a campus that is almost Puritan in nature. It's like watching a fiery tornado built of bone shards and damned souls ripping through Smurf Village.

The best part– the refs didn't see any of it. She got through the whole game with only a yellow card for tripping. She stoically floated from foul to foul like a dark force that is imperceptible to the human eye. The Wachowski Brothers should make a movie about this chick. It'd be awesome.

New Mexico has suspended Lambert indefinitely for her actions, but we can only hope she gets into a UFC fight soon.

ummmmm…have you checked the definition of Puritan lately?
Besides using the word “disciplined” Free Dictionary offers this helpful explanation: “One who lives in accordance with Protestant precepts, especially one who regards pleasure or luxury as sinful.”

Do you know much about BYU? Religious fundamentalism is a phrase that can easily be assigned to both Provo, UT and Salem, MA circa 1692.
Perhaps it was my usage of the preposition “on” that was misleading. I should’ve said “upon” or “against”. My apologies.
