| Education for the Future |
| Since its founding in 1969, ITT Technical Institutes have been instrumental in helping men and women gain the skills and knowledge to help them succeed and excel in today's fastest growing career opportunities. We understand the importance of hands-on learning, using up-to-date equipment and technology that graduates will be handling in their new careers, so we blend traditional academic learning with a significant portion of lab-time so students can apply what they're learning to real-world situations. ITT Technical Institute offers training in six distinct career paths that include; School of Information Technology, School of Drafting and Design, School of Electronics Technology, School of Business, School of Criminal Justice, and School of Health Sciences, to provide learners an "Education for the Future." |
School of Health Sciences
The School of Health Sciences at ITT Technical Institute focuses on how to use technology to collect, analyze, monitor, maintain and report health data. As the health care industry becomes more digitized, the need for skilled individuals capable of gathering and analyzing data in accordance with established principles will likely keep increasing, according to recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. Students will also learn the legal and ethical information security standards and professional best-practice guidelines to prepare themselves to enter the health information technology field. Many employers of health information technicians either limit their hiring, or give hiring preference, to candidates who are Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT). In order for a student to become an RHIT upon graduation, the student must pass a certification examination for RHIT administered by the Council on Certification of the American Health Information Management Association (the Certification Exam). In order for a student to be allowed to take the Certification Exam to become an RHIT, the student must: (a) graduate from a program of study in health information technology that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM); and (b) pay an examination fee, for which the student is solely responsible. At this time, not all colleges offering this program are accredited by CAHIIM. Accrediting information is available by individual campus.
