The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education is a degree offered by the College of Education in conjunction with the College of Liberal Arts for students desiring to prepare for a career in teaching in grades 7 - 12. The Secondary Education program is designed to prepare students for careers in middle schools and high schools. Courses are taught by experts in their respective fields who share knowledge and experiences in the areas of educational psychology, reading strategies, teaching methods, assessment, classroom management, and curriculum development. All courses are directly aligned with the Arizona Professional Teacher Standards and the Interstate New Teacher Support and Assessment Consortium Standards. Opportunities are provided to apply concepts, theories, and research throughout the teacher preparation program. Prospective students should currently have an associate degree or over 60 college credits prior to enrollment. Students/applicants are responsible for contacting their state department of education for certification requirements and program approval.
